What is Psychotherapy?
The terms Counselling and Psychotherapy are often used interchangeably. Clients often come to see a counsellor to seek support with an areas of their life that is causing them anguish and distress. I offer a safe, warm, compassionate, and nonjudgmental space to allow my clients to express their emotions they may be experiencing and guide them towards processing these feelings and to move towards healing and gaining a better quality of life.
Psychotherapy can be considered as a process whereby, through the therapeutic relationship, the client can explore some of their unconscious processes and defenses. Clients gradually gain insight into how their past may be affecting them in their present relationships. Psychotherapy helps us get the most out of our lives by taking responsibility, creating greater self-awareness and working towards change.
What's Involved
Each session lasts 50 minutes and the number of sessions involved varies in length. During our first session we can look at what brings you to counselling and determine the appropriate approach for you. I offer a FREE 15 minute phone consultation for you to share a little about what brings you to therapy and you can ask any questions you may have. I will share with you how I feel I can help you and welcome you to the start of your healing journey.
